The tribals raised demands for Sarna religious code in census for security of tribal land, recruitment policy in favor of locals and others at a rally held at Prabhat Tara ground at Dhurwa in capital Jharkhand today.
They expressed their dismay at Kudmi's desire to become a tribe and threatened dire consequences if the attempt was successful, saying bloodshed was inevitable.
JMM legislators from Bishunpur and Sisai, Chamra Linda and Jiga Susasan Horo respectively led the Adivasi Adhikar Rally. Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti, Tamar, Bundu, Chaibasa and Santhal Pargana were among the participants.
The march targeted both the central and state governments, and the tribal members sought legitimate tribal rights in the state.
